November is here, bringing cooler weather, family gatherings, and the excitement of Thanksgiving. It’s a time to enjoy your favorite holiday traditions, including an extra helping of stuffing or a slice of pumpkin pie. However, even with a balanced diet and regular exercise, certain areas of unwanted fat can be difficult to reduce. Fortunately, CoolSculpting offers a nonsurgical way to target these areas and achieve a more contoured appearance.
CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical treatment designed to reduce localized pockets of unwanted fat. It uses a technology called cryolipolysis, or controlled cooling, to selectively damage fat cells without harming the surrounding skin and tissues. Over the following weeks and months, the body naturally clears away these damaged fat cells, gradually reducing the fatty layer in the treated area.
Unlike liposuction, CoolSculpting requires no incisions or anesthesia and little to no downtime. Most patients return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
One of the most important things to understand is that CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss treatment. The ideal candidate is already at or near a healthy, stable weight but has localized areas of fat that have resisted diet and exercise.
CoolSculpting works best on pinchable subcutaneous fat, the stubborn bulges just beneath the skin. Common treatment areas include the abdomen, flanks or “love handles,” thighs, upper arms, back and bra fat, and fat beneath the chin.
It does not treat the deeper visceral fat surrounding the internal organs, and it is not a treatment for obesity.
CoolSculpting for Effective Nonsurgical Fat Reduction
Although many technologies are now marketed for body contouring, CoolSculpting remains the gold standard for nonsurgical fat reduction, with a long history of clinical use.
Results develop gradually as the body processes the treated fat cells. Most patients begin to notice improvement within several weeks, with results continuing to develop over the following months. Depending on the area and the desired result, more than one treatment may be recommended.
It is also important to have realistic expectations. CoolSculpting can produce noticeable improvements in body contour without surgery, but it cannot achieve the same degree of fat removal as liposuction. A consultation helps determine which option is best for an individual patient. At Potozkin + Ellis Dermatology & Aesthetics we have offered CoolSculpting since 2015 and offer the most up to date CoolSculpting Elite Devices.
Enjoy Thanksgiving While Staying Focused on Your Body Contouring Goals
Fortunately, one Thanksgiving dinner isn’t going to undo your CoolSculpting results. The fat cells eliminated through treatment are permanently gone. However, remaining fat cells can still enlarge with weight gain, so maintaining a relatively stable weight helps preserve your results.
So, enjoy Thanksgiving. Have the turkey and stuffing, and yes, have some pumpkin pie.
If you’re at a stable weight but have a stubborn pocket of fat that refuses to cooperate despite your best efforts, CoolSculpting may be an excellent nonsurgical option. We are here to help.
