The Fraxel Repair CO2 laser, also known as the Fractional Ablative CO2 laser, is used to treat significantly aged or damaged skin and is the most intense Fraxel laser treatment. It works by vaporizing tiny columns of damaged tissue on the skin’s surface and deep layers to stimulate production of new, healthy skin cells and collagen.
The Repair laser treats a fraction of the skin while not disrupting surrounding tissue. This reduces the risk of complications (compared to a traditional, fully ablative CO2 laser), and the skin is able to heal faster.
The Fraxel Repair CO2 laser system is currently FDA-approved to treat:
This laser will give you more dramatic results in combating the above skin conditions, but there is also a more extensive recovery period due to the intensity of the treatment. We recommend having 14 days of social downtime post-treatment.
The Fraxel Repair CO2 laser can resurface:
Though it is intense compared to other Fraxel lasers, Fraxel Repair CO2 is a true non-surgical alternative to more invasive surgical and resurfacing procedures. There is less risk and recovery time with this treatment than a facelift or other significant resurfacing procedures. It’s considered a potentially preventative treatment that can eliminate the need for a facelift entirely.
Some of the major benefits and results you’ll experience are:
This procedure in our practice usually takes about an hour.
Prior to treatment, you will receive a mild oral sedative in combination with local anesthesia. The laser beam travels across the treated area in a series of passes, and you may feel heat and some discomfort.
Directly after treatment, most patients report feeling a burning sensation comparable to a mild sunburn. For about 10 days, there’s swelling, redness, and peeling. Your treated skin is making way for new, healthy skin.
It’s important to have a trusted board-certified dermatologist provide this advanced laser treatment. If the treatment is given by an inexperienced provider, it can result in complications such as burns and scarring.
Our team will discuss all laser treatment options during your initial consultation to make sure the treatment aligns with your individual skin conditions and goals. We will walk you through every step of the process to make sure the treatment best fits your needs.
“Our practice philosophy is simple — to deliver the very best care we can in the very best way we can. To us, that means we make each and every patient feel welcomed from the moment that they walk in the door until they leave the office. It means that we listen to what the patient has to say and address those concerns. It means we give advice and recommend treatments based on our extensive training with leaders in the field, our wealth of personal experience, and our commitment to excellence. For our cosmetic patients, it means working with the patient to achieve results that look natural, not overdone or exaggerated. It means that we always strive to do the right thing for the patient, as we value very highly ethics, honesty, and integrity. It means we stand behind what we do and will do everything in our power to get the best results we can for the patient. It means we carefully select the highest quality staff to represent us and help us carry out these goals. Lastly and most importantly, it means that we treat the patient the way we would want ourselves to be treated, with respect and kindness. Because at the end of the day, without all of our loyal patients, we wouldn’t have a practice.”
